Hermon Hailay, born in Ethiopia and trained at the leading theatre school in Addis Ababa, is one of Ethiopia’s leading filmmakers, with several critically and commercially successful domestic films to her name.

Her first theatrical feature film was the award winning Price of Love, which screened at Toronto International Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Palm Springs, Stockholm, Hamburg plus over 50 others where it won 11 international awards.

She does not shy away from sensitive or difficult subjects matters and is committed to telling important Ethiopian stories that speak to both a local and international audience to break the stereotypes of both Ethiopian and African society and culture.

She is currently in development on her second feature.
